A popular DJ, Commissioner Wysei, found herself on the wrong side of the law as a court in Lagos State remanded her for alleged assault against Nigerian Police officers.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the state command, conveyed this development via a tweet on X, detailing the charges against her.
According to Hundeyin, Iwuagwu Ebere, known professionally as Commissioner DJ Wysei, faces accusations of assaulting police officers, resisting arrest, and obstructing them in the discharge of their duties.
The court ordered her remand in the Kirikiri correctional facility until May 8, 2024.
Additionally, her bouncers, who purportedly aided and abetted her in the alleged assault, were remanded in the Ikoyi correctional facility.
The legal proceedings against Commissioner Wysei come in the wake of a report by SaharaReporters, wherein Benjamin Hundeyin initially confirmed the arrest of Obianuju Catherine Udeh, better known as DJ Switch.
However, Hundeyin later retracted his statement regarding DJ Switch’s arrest.
The circulating claims suggested that DJ Switch had been apprehended in Lagos and was slated for arraignment on charges of allegedly obstructing the station’s entrance and assaulting a female officer.
