Tems Responds to Allegations of Charging ₦402 Million Per Verse

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has addressed the recent claim suggesting she charges $500,000 per verse.

The controversy arose when Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck, considering Tems for the deluxe edition of his album ‘Eziokwu,’ stated that he couldn’t meet her fee.

According to Odumodublvck, Tems commands a hefty $500,000 per verse, roughly equivalent to ₦402,470,000.00.

When a fan inquired about Tems’ potential involvement in the deluxe edition, Odumodublvck clarified that she would not be part of the project, emphasizing, “a verse from Tems costs $500,000.”

In response to the swirling speculations, Tems neither confirmed nor refuted the claim. Quoting Odumodublvck’s tweet, she expressed, “Excuse me? LET TEMS BREATHE.”

Tems rose to global prominence in 2020, notably for her collaboration with Wizkid on the track ‘Essence.’ Since then, she has solidified her position as a fan favorite in the Nigerian music scene, receiving numerous awards and accolades.

In February, she secured her first-ever Grammy award in the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category for her contribution to ‘Wait for U,’ the 2022 hit song by Future featuring Drake.

Adding to her musical repertoire, Tems recently released ‘Me & U,’ a track she penned during a moment of spiritual reflection, describing it as a conversation with God.
