In a significant move aimed at propelling Sokoto State into a new era of development, Governor Ahmed Aliyu has given his nod to 10 projects totaling over N18 billion.
The approval was a pivotal outcome of the state executive meeting held at the Council Chamber, Government House, Sokoto, presided over by Governor Aliyu.
Briefing the media following the meeting, Bello Danchadi, the state Commissioner for Information, highlighted that these projects align with the agenda of the All Progressives Congress-led administration in Sokoto State, envisioning a transformative future for the region.
Among the diverse range of projects are road construction, rural electrification, and initiatives crucial to the overall development of the state.
The Commissioner for Works, Nasir Danstoho, detailed some of the approved projects, emphasizing their strategic importance.
The contract for the Runjin Sambo inner road, with an estimated cost of N2.189 billion, was greenlit, marking a crucial step in enhancing the state’s infrastructure.
Additionally, the rehabilitation of the Bodinga line along Maiduguri road, priced at N816,289,000, gained approval.
The reconstruction of Forces Avenue and Lodge Road, Reconstruction of old market and roundabout along Ali Akilu road, and that of Gidan maadan roundabout were also among the ambitious endeavors sanctioned by the executive session.
Commissioner for Environment, Nura Tangaza, revealed that the government had earmarked N2.244 billion for the construction of culverts along Silame-Bimji road, reflecting a commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure.
Tangaza further outlined plans to replace generator-powered street lights with solar-powered alternatives across the metropolis, a significant initiative valued at N1.75 billion. Additionally, a street light project for five new roads was approved, with a budget of N97 million.
The Commissioner for Water Resources addressed the media, shedding light on the comprehensive scope of the approved projects.
The rehabilitation of 47 inner roads in Tundun Wada and Aguwanrogo area of the state metropolis emerged as a critical undertaking, with an allocated budget of N8.99 billion.
