Rivers Crisis: Lawmaker Representing Wike’s LG Resigns, Supports Governor Fubara

Honorable Akor Prince Nna, the esteemed representative of the ward once governed by former Governor Nyesom Wike in Obio/Akpor Local Government, has taken a significant step by tendering his resignation from his legislative position. 

This decision comes amidst the ongoing power struggle in Rivers State, as he publicly declares his support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

In a formal announcement, Honorable Nna disclosed his resignation from the position of Leader of the House in the Legislative Council, signaling his firm alignment with Governor Fubara’s leadership amidst the political turmoil gripping the state. 

His resignation, outlined in a letter dated March 6 and addressed to the Executive Chairman of the Obio/Akpor Legislative Council, reflects his unwavering commitment to his principles and his determination to stand by the truth.

In the letter, Honorable Nna expressed his gratitude to the people of Ward 9 and Obio/Akpor Local Government for the opportunity to serve in various capacities, including as a councilor and as the Leader of the Legislative Council. 

He also acknowledged former Governor Wike for entrusting him with the responsibility of representing his ward.

Citing personal conviction and a commitment to truth, Honorable Nna cited various forms of intimidation, marginalization, and coercion from certain leaders within the local government as contributing factors to his resignation. 

Drawing inspiration from the words of Senator Dino Melaye, he emphasized the importance of speaking the truth even in the face of adversity.

Furthermore, Honorable Nna declared his alignment with progressive forces aimed at liberating and developing Rivers State, echoing the ideals of the SIMplified Movement. 

Despite his departure from the Legislative Council, he reiterated his dedication to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s RENEWED HOPE agenda, showcasing his willingness to collaborate with the state government to achieve developmental goals and foster peace and empowerment for the people of Rivers State.

In closing, Honorable Nna expressed his continued gratitude to the people of Ward 9 and Obio/Akpor, underscoring his unwavering commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and extending his blessings to all involved. 

His resignation marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing political landscape of Rivers State, signaling a shift in alliances and a renewed commitment to principles of truth, progress, and development.
