In a twist of political fate, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, the former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) and a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has taken a swipe at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
According to Chief Eze, his counsel, which went unheeded by Wike, has played a crucial role in the unfolding crisis in Rivers State.
The seasoned politician asserted that the law of nature is now working against Wike, who finds himself entangled in a power struggle with Governor Siminialayi Fubara over the reins of Rivers State.
Eze, in a statement released on Saturday, suggested that retributive justice is catching up with the Governor, citing a historical precedent when Wike supported the ousting of 27 lawmakers loyal to the then Governor of Rivers State, Amaechi, back in 2014.
“When I told him that whatever you sow will come after you, he ignored my counsel,” remarked Chief Eze, underscoring the consequences of political maneuvering.
Recalling events from 2018, Chief Eze highlighted Wike’s stance when Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
According to Eze, Wike vehemently insisted that Matawalle vacate his office in compliance with the constitution.
The same strategy, Eze claimed, was applied to Dr. David Umahi of Ebonyi State and Ben Ayade of Cross Rivers State when they crossed over to the APC.
“The constitution is clear, and the law must be adhered to. The decampees have lost their seats at the state legislature,” asserted Chief Eze, drawing parallels with the situation in Cross Rivers State. He dismissed the uproar over the ousted lawmakers in Rivers State as “a noise of no value.”
Eze also accused Governor Ganduje of Kano State of orchestrating a deceptive move to undermine Wike by dissolving the Rivers State Chapter of the APC and appointing individuals loyal to Wike as caretakers.
In reality, Eze contended, this was a cunning ploy to immerse Wike in the intricate dynamics of politics.
Commending Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Tinubu, Chief Eze humorously described Wike as an “unlearned comedian, poor cook, unskilled dancer, and untalented entertainer.”
This subtle dig at Wike’s political acumen suggests a larger narrative in which seasoned politicians are repositioning the chess pieces on the political board, leaving Wike to grapple with the consequences of decisions made in the past.
