In a decisive move to tackle rising crime in the Ekye Development Area of Doma Local Government Area, the Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully arrested two suspected armed robbers who have been wreaking havoc in the community.
The suspects, clad in army uniform, were apprehended following a thorough operation prompted by concerns raised by residents.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the operation was initiated in response to recurring complaints of armed robberies plaguing the Ekye community, particularly on Thursday nights.
The suspects, identified as Abdullahi Basso and Saidu Isah, were singled out as key perpetrators behind these heinous acts.
The operation, conducted under the supervision of operatives from the Ekye Division, targeted the notorious Doma-Rukubi Road, a known hotspot for criminal activities.
The law enforcement team executed a well-coordinated ambush at Kwanar Kare, strategically intercepting the suspects before they could carry out their criminal intentions.
Abdullahi Basso and Saidu Isah, residents of Rugan Maigari in Rukubi village, were swiftly apprehended at the scene.
Alongside their arrest, the police recovered a substantial amount of cash totaling three hundred thousand naira (N300,000), as well as a knife and other incriminating items that served as evidence of their illicit activities.
Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in a previous robbery incident targeting Mallam Barka at the same location.
During this earlier attack, they brazenly relieved the victim of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000), further underscoring the gravity of their criminal enterprise.
The successful apprehension of Abdullahi Basso and Saidu Isah marks a significant victory for law enforcement efforts in Nasarawa State.
