In a significant breakthrough for the security forces in Kebbi State, the notorious kidnapper, Dogo Oro, met his end in a confrontation with local vigilantes in Tunga village, located in the Bunza Local Government Area of the North-Western State.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Governor, Ahmed Idris, announced the demise of Dogo Oro on Friday, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the elimination of the criminal mastermind.
According to Idris, Dogo Oro initiated a violent attack on the unsuspecting villagers, employing sporadic shooting with bows and arrows in one of the surrounding villages of Kanzanna.
The incident unfolded with a dramatic confrontation that ultimately led to the neutralization of the infamous kidnapper. Idris, in an official statement, detailed the security progress report, emphasizing that the operation took place in Tunga village, Tilli ward, Bunza local government.
“The security progress report indicated that today, 01/12/2023, from Tunga village in Tilli ward, Bunza local government, a notorious kidnapper called Dogo Oro, who was well known for terrorism in Bunza and Kalgo local government areas, was killed this morning by our men, the vigilantes at Tunga area,” he affirmed.
Dogo Oro had terrorized the communities of Bunza and Kalgo local government areas, abducting innocent villagers and demanding hefty ransoms for their release.
The Chief Press Secretary highlighted the success of the local vigilantes’ operation as a pivotal moment, enabling residents to resume their normal business activities without fear for their lives and properties.
Commending the gallant efforts of the vigilantes and their integral role in supporting other security operatives, Idris expressed gratitude for Governor Nasir Idris’s unwavering support. The governor’s commitment to addressing security challenges in various council areas of the state was underscored as essential for sustaining peace and order. Idris also stressed the importance of regular security meetings and logistical support for security personnel, asserting their priority to counteract banditry and criminal activities in the state.
