The Lagos Coroner Court has revealed that the crucial phase of the autopsy process aimed at determining the cause of the late singer Mohbad’s death is currently underway in the United States of America (USA).
O. Akinde, the state counsel, informed the Coroner Magistrate, Adetayo Shotobi, on Wednesday that the examination of the external aspects of the deceased’s body has been completed.
This announcement came in response to concerns raised by David Fadimu, the counsel to Mohbad’s father, along with David Nawoola of TNKay Music Worldwide, and O.S.A. Aranmolaran, the representative of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikorodu.
Akinde clarified, stating, “The toxicology test, which involves the internal body, is being conducted in the US.”
Mohbad passed away under controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023, and was laid to rest the following day in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
In response to public outcry surrounding his death, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, ordered a forensic investigation to uncover the circumstances of his demise.
Subsequently, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, established a 10-member team, including a pathologist, to exhume the singer’s corpse and conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of death.
