In a significant development, the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba has remanded 37-year-old auxiliary nurse Fisayo Ogedengbe, who was arrested by the police in connection with the death of the popular singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad. Ogedengbe has been sent into custody pending further legal proceedings.
The allegations against Ogedengbe suggest that she administered injections to Mohbad, leading to his unfortunate demise. The magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, also directed Ayobani Sadiq, a friend of Mohbad and another suspect in the case, to return to police custody for further investigations.
However, the magistrate granted bail in the sum of N20 million to each of Mohbad’s former employer, Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, and a prominent Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, popularly known as Sam Larry. Both individuals were implicated in Mohbad’s death and were taken into police custody on October 6.
Magistrate Olatunbosun announced, “The defendants, Naira Marley and Sam Larry, are hereby granted bail in the sum of N20 million with three responsible sureties each, pending legal advice from the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution. Additionally, one of the sureties must own a landed property.” As part of the bail conditions, the defendants are required to surrender their passports and make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Olatunbosun sternly warned against any direct contact with her regarding the case, stating, “Any attempts to contact me directly would be recorded and potentially disclosed in open court proceedings.”
The police confirmed that the investigation into the case is still ongoing. Consequently, Olatunbosun adjourned the case until November 29, awaiting legal advice from the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
