Kebbi Governor Nasir Idris Inaugurates Local Government Administrators

In a significant move aimed at grassroots governance, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris administered the oath of office to 21 local government administrators on Tuesday.

This decisive action reflects the governor’s commitment to fostering closer ties between local leadership and the communities they serve.

The governor’s decision to dissolve all elected chairmen of the state’s 21 local governments and their secretaries last month was driven by the expiration of their tenures, which concluded on February 5.

Inaugurating the new administrators at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, Governor Idris emphasized the importance of staying connected to the grassroots, urging the administrators to eschew the allure of the state capital and remain firmly rooted in their respective communities.

“As leaders, I want you to stay with your people instead of leaving them and moving to the state capital,” Governor Idris emphasized. “I urge you to work hard, do your work diligently to justify the confidence reposed in you.”

The governor’s vision for inclusive governance is evident in his deliberate selection of administrators, comprising a blend of seasoned politicians and promising young leaders.

“Remember, I promised that my administration will go with both experienced (old) politicians as well as the young (youths),” Governor Idris stated. “This combination you are seeing today is in fulfillment of my promise.”

Highlighting the importance of mentorship and intergenerational collaboration, Governor Idris underscored the role of experienced politicians in nurturing the next generation of leaders.

“I want the old, experienced, and seasoned politicians to groom the young ones because they are our future leaders,” he remarked.

In response, Dahiru Nayaya-Ambursa, the Sole Administrator of Birnin Kebbi, expressed gratitude on behalf of his colleagues, pledging unwavering support for the governor’s administration.

Nayaya-Ambursa assured Governor Idris of their collective commitment to driving positive development initiatives across their respective local government areas.

The assurance of steadfast support from the new administrators underscores their determination to uphold the trust placed in them by the governor and the citizens they serve.

With a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to grassroots engagement, the newly inaugurated local government administrators embark on their mandate, poised to effect meaningful change and advance the welfare of Kebbi State’s diverse communities.
