In a decisive move to uphold integrity and discipline within its administrative ranks, the Kebbi State Government has ousted three district heads from the Gwandu Emirate, following damning allegations of gross misconduct, insubordination, fraud, and partisanship.
The affected district heads, including Alhaji Lawal Yakubu and Mai Arewan Yeldu in Arewa Local Government Area, Malam Ahmed Sani and Sarkin Gabas Geza in Dandi Local Government Area, and Alhaji Tukur Aliyu and Jagwadejin Bakuwe in Suru Local Government Area, now find themselves stripped of their positions and privileges.
The announcement of their dismissal came from the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Mansur Shehu, during a press briefing held in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
Shehu, elucidating the government’s position, emphasized that the decisive action was taken in accordance with the state’s Public Service Rules (PSR).
The allegations against the district heads were not trivial, including serious charges of leaving their posts without proper authorization.
Alhaji Mansur Shehu shed light on the meticulous process that preceded the dismissals.
He stated, “The Commission has the responsibility to discipline local government employees from Grade Level 07 and above (district heads inclusive) in line with the provisions of the Kebbi State Local Government Law (2008).”
The Local Government Service Commission initiated a thorough investigation, suspending the district heads upon receiving charges and subsequently constituting committees to delve into the accusations.
The gravity of the charges necessitated a holistic examination by the Local Government Service Commission, revealing a pattern of behavior that contravened established rules and regulations.
The district heads were found culpable of gross misconduct, insubordination, and engaging in activities that compromised their positions as leaders within their respective local government areas.
The dismissal, as outlined by Alhaji Mansur Shehu, underscores the commitment of the Kebbi State Government to maintaining discipline and accountability within its ranks.
It sends a clear message that actions contrary to established rules and codes of conduct will not be tolerated, regardless of one’s position.
The affected district heads, once regarded as influential figures in their communities, now face the consequences of their actions.
The dismissal not only removes them from positions of authority but also serves as a stern warning to others who may contemplate veering from the path of ethical governance.
As the Kebbi State Government strives to uphold the principles of transparency and accountability, this episode reflects its dedication to ensuring that public officials adhere to the highest standards of conduct.
The thorough investigation and subsequent dismissal of the district heads underscore the government’s commitment to fostering a culture of responsibility and integrity within the public service.
