I Lost over 200,000 Followers for Supporting Tinubu – Seyi Law

Renowned comedian Oluwaseyitan Aletile, famously known as Seyi Law, has revealed that his outspoken support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 election campaign led to a significant loss of over 200,000 followers on social media.

Sharing this revelation as a guest on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, co-hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, popularly known as Nedu, along with Toun Cole and Husband Material, Seyi Law reflected on the consequences of his social media activism.

“I lost over 200,000 followers because of the election which, for me, is not a problem,” Seyi Law stated. “The most important thing is that whatever you do, try as much as possible to ensure that you’re doing it from the right place.

Whatever you do, are you sure that you are doing it from the right place? Is it fair to those concerned? If you’re not being fair, don’t do it.”

Despite the loss in followers, Seyi Law remained steadfast in his belief that standing up for what one believes in, with integrity and fairness, is paramount.

Moreover, Seyi Law went on to express his admiration for Tinubu’s contributions to Lagos, suggesting that the political figure played a pivotal role in shaping the city into the vibrant entertainment hub it is today.

“Tinubu probably made Lagos a conducive environment for entertainment to thrive today,” Seyi Law asserted.

By acknowledging both the personal ramifications of his activism and the positive impact he believes Tinubu has had on Lagos, Seyi Law’s comments offer a nuanced perspective on the intersection of politics, social media, and entertainment in Nigeria.

In a landscape where public figures often face backlash for their political affiliations, Seyi Law’s openness about his experiences serves as a reminder of the complexities involved in navigating the public sphere while staying true to one’s convictions.
