‘I knew long ago Ghandi would become Soun’ – Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, revealed on Sunday that he had long recognized the destined kingship of Oba Ghandi Olaoye, the Soun of Ogbomoso.

The prominent clergyman made this revelation during an interdenominational thanksgiving service held at Beulah Baptist Conference in Ogbomoso, where the RCCG General Overseer was in attendance.

The journey to kingship for Oba Ghandi Olaoye, a former RCCG pastor overseeing the church’s branch in Washington DC, began after the ancient throne of the Soun of Ogbomoso became vacant following the passing of Oba Jimoh Oyewumi, Ajagungbade III.

Olaoye, now the 21st Soun of Ogbomoso in Oyo State, is set to be formally presented with the staff of office on December 19 by Governor Seyi Makinde.

Pastor Adeboye’s acknowledgment of Oba Ghandi Olaoye’s royal destiny took place as part of an interdenominational thanksgiving service for the newly crowned monarch.

The service, held at Beulah Baptist Conference, provided a platform for spiritual leaders to come together and offer prayers for the king’s prosperous reign.

Addressing the congregation, Pastor Adeboye shared his conviction that Oba Olaoye was destined for kingship.

He recounted advising Olaoye to seek divine confirmation through prayer, emphasizing the importance of a direct message from God. Adeboye recounted the journey, stating, “I knew that long ago but I wanted God to speak to him directly.”

To those who might question the synergy between Olaoye’s past role as a pastor and his current position as a traditional monarch, Adeboye firmly asserted that God’s will supersedes human opinions.

He said, “If I said no and God said yes, whose word is the final? God, of course. So, I cannot stop him because Pastor Olaoye was destined to be a king even before he was born and thank God it is coming to fruition.”

The cleric, drawing inspiration from the book of Acts 15:18, advised the newly crowned king to embrace the people and champion peace and unity within his realm.

Pastor Adeboye proceeded to anoint Oba Olaoye and his wife, offering prayers for a reign marked by peace and prosperity.

In response, Oba Olaoye expressed gratitude to Pastor Adeboye, referring to him as a spiritual father and role model.

He shared his commitment to ruling with equity, justice, and fairness, transcending religious and cultural boundaries within Ogbomosoland. Oba Olaoye called for prayers from the people, envisioning a city that would be the pride of many towns, not just in Nigeria but globally.

The thanksgiving service brought together leaders from various denominations, including the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev Israel Akanji, Bishop Titus Olayinka, Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu, and several others, who collectively offered special prayers for the new king’s reign.

As Oba Ghandi Olaoye assumes his role as the 21st Soun of Ogbomoso, the convergence of spiritual leaders underscores the significance of unity and divine guidance in the governance of traditional institutions.

The interdenominational gathering serves as a poignant testament to the interconnectedness of faith, culture, and the unfolding destiny of a community.
