Heartbreak Tragedy Strikes as Ends Life in Adamawa

Jemima Shetima Balami, a Diploma Two Mass Communication student from Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, met a tragic end by taking her own life. 

The young woman, engaged in an industrial attachment with Adamawa State Television, Yola, succumbed to the devastating emotional aftermath of a fractured romantic relationship.

The 24-year-old, hailing from Garkida in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, reportedly ingested a poisonous substance after receiving news of her boyfriend’s disinterest in their relationship. 

Shockingly, her boyfriend is identified as a lecturer affiliated with the Modibbo Adama University in Yola.

The tragedy unfolded at her residence in Vinikilang, a Riverside community near the state capital, Yola, leaving the community shaken. 

Jemima, the only daughter of her father, cast a shadow on the vibrant energy of the student community, leaving a void that no one could have anticipated.

Confirming the incident, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa State, disclosed that the father of the deceased reported the heartbreaking incident to the police. 

The circumstances surrounding Jemima’s demise are multifaceted, with conflicting narratives emerging.

Nguroje stated, “The father of Jemima reported that she committed suicide by taking a deadly substance. 

Another version had it that she visited her boyfriend, a lecturer at Modibbo Adama University, Yola, and was told to quit the relationship. Angered by the news of exiting her boyfriend, the deceased took poison.”
