General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), issued a stern warning to individuals he labeled as “evil people” advocating for a coup in Nigeria amidst the prevailing economic challenges.
Musa emphasized that the law would take its course against those inciting such actions, reaffirming the Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to upholding democracy in the nation.
Speaking following the inauguration of the main entrance of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, and Officers Transit Accommodation at the Division Headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the Army chief underscored the importance of protecting Nigeria’s democratic principles.
Musa reiterated, “Whoever is making that call (coup) does not love Nigeria. We want to make it very clear that the Armed Forces of Nigeria are here to protect democracy.”
He emphasized the pivotal role democracy plays in the nation’s progress, condemning any attempts to subvert it.
Expressing concern for the nation’s current economic challenges, Musa acknowledged the perseverance required during trying times.

The CDS remarked, “Everybody goes through a trying period in life, and it is what you do with them. You can see the government putting efforts to ensure that we come out better.”
