Friendly Match: Onyeka Ruled Out of Super Eagles Clash with Mali

Frank Onyeka, the Brentford midfielder, will be absent from Nigeria’s upcoming friendly encounter against Mali due to an injury he sustained during the Super Eagles’ recent 2-1 victory over the Black Stars of Ghana.

Sources within the camp confirmed Onyeka’s injury, prompting his return to his club for further medical attention.

Following his injury, the defensive midfielder departed for his club on Sunday to undergo necessary treatment, indicating the severity of the setback.

Joining Onyeka in the list of absentees is Calvin Bassey, the Fulham defender, who is also dealing with a minor injury.

Bassey, who remained on the bench as an unused substitute during the match against Ghana, will not be available for the upcoming fixture against Mali.

The Super Eagles, despite these setbacks, are gearing up to face Mali at the Grand Stade de Marrakech on Tuesday, where they will look to navigate the challenge without the services of Onyeka and Bassey.

The absence of these key players poses a test for the team’s depth and adaptability as they strive to maintain their competitive edge in international football.

As the Super Eagles prepare for their encounter with Mali, the unavailability of Onyeka and Bassey underscores the unpredictable nature of injuries in football and the need for effective squad management to navigate such obstacles during crucial fixtures.
