In the first leg of the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, Nigeria’s Falconets exhibited a strong performance, securing a 1-1 draw against Tanzania on Sunday.
The Falconets took the lead in the 60th minute with a goal by Chioma Olise.
However, Tanzania responded with determination, and Asnath Ubamba netted an equalizer in the 71st minute.
The upcoming second leg is scheduled to be held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Sunday, 19 November 2023.
Falconets advanced to the third round with a walkover after Mauritius withdrew before the first leg.
A total of four teams from Africa will earn the opportunity to represent the continent at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
In the 2022 U-20 Women’s World Cup, the Falconets reached the quarter-finals but faced a 2-0 defeat against the Netherlands.
