Dino Melaye, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the recent Kogi State election, remains steadfast in his claim that there was no election in the state last Saturday. Melaye defended his decision not to cast a vote during the governorship election, asserting that the act of voting or not voting holds no legal significance.
During an appearance on Channels TV Politics Today, Melaye insisted that whether he participated in the voting process or not was irrelevant.
Despite securing the third position in the election, which saw Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerge as the winner, Melaye maintained his stance.
In response to the controversial election’s outcome, Melaye stated, “The issue of voting or not voting has no legal status. People win elections in prison.
Legally, it has no relevance to the election. Whether I voted or not, it is immaterial. I don’t want to talk about it; there was no election in Kogi State on Saturday.”
Melaye’s assertions reflect his dissatisfaction with the electoral process in Kogi State, emphasizing the absence of a legitimate election on the specified date.
