Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has been granted bail in the amount of N300 million by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama.
The ruling, delivered by Justice Hamza Muazu on Wednesday, stipulates that Emefiele must provide two sureties with landed property in the Maitama District of the FCT.
Despite Emefiele’s absence in court during today’s proceedings, as he had been remanded at Kuje Prison last week, the court had previously ordered his release in a fundamental human rights suit against the federal government.
The trial is set to commence on November 28, as the court adjourned for further proceedings.
