Bye-election: APC Secures Victory in Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski Federal Constituency Seat in Kebbi

Umar Garba-Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious in the rerun election for the Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski Federal Constituency in Kebbi. 

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared Garba-Uba as the winner of this closely watched contest, reshaping the political landscape in the region.

The declaration was made by the Returning Officer, Prof. Abbas Yusuf-Bazata, from the Federal University Birnin Kebbi, in Yauri Local Government Area on a Sunday, following the Saturday rerun election. 

According to the official results, Garba-Uba secured an impressive 54,885 votes, overshadowing his closest opponent, Garba Hassan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 16,652 votes.

Yusuf-Bazata provided additional details on the electoral process, stating that the total number of votes cast reached 74,469, with 72,343 valid votes and 2,126 deemed invalid.

 He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including INEC officials, party agents, security agencies, and the media, for their collective efforts in ensuring a smooth and trouble-free electoral exercise.

Notably, the election unfolded peacefully, devoid of any reported chaos or hitches across the constituency. Alhaji Lukman Yauri, the APC Assistant State Public Relations Officer, commended the party’s performance and the successful execution of projects in the state. 

Speaking to newsmen after the announcement of the result, Yauri urged the people of the state to rally behind the present administration at all levels, emphasizing the delivery of democracy’s dividends to every corner of the state.

Assuring the constituents of Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski, Yauri emphasized that the newly elected member, Umar Garba-Uba, would ensure quality representation and live up to the expectations of the electorate. 

The victory not only strengthens the APC’s foothold in Kebbi but also sets the stage for impactful legislative representation in the federal constituency.

As the APC celebrates this bye-election triumph, attention now turns towards the responsibilities that come with the mandate. 

The electorate anticipates meaningful development, responsive governance, and a commitment to addressing the pressing issues facing the Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski Federal Constituency.
