Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has proposed the merger of Nigeria’s opposition parties as a strategic move to create a more robust front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Atiku, who contested as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 presidential election, made this statement during a gathering in Abuja on Tuesday, where he hosted the national executive committee of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC).
Expressing his concerns over what he perceives as actions by the APC leading towards a one-party dictatorship, Atiku stressed the importance of safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy.
During the meeting with IPAC, led by Yabagi Sani, Atiku urged the council to mobilize opposition parties, emphasizing the need for a united front to counteract the perceived threat posed by the APC.
