Emir of Zazzau Pays Visit to Olu of Warri

In a display of cultural exchange and camaraderie, the Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Majesty, Amb Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, journeyed to the heart of the Niger Delta to visit the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, in the Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The purpose of the Emir’s visit was twofold. Firstly, he came to the state to be conferred with an honorary doctorate in Public Affairs from the Western Delta University (WDU) in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area. 

Secondly, in a gesture of mutual respect and solidarity, he took the opportunity to make a courtesy call on the Olu of Warri.

Expressing his joy and anticipation, the Emir shared his excitement about the forthcoming honorary doctorate, acknowledging the warmth and welcoming atmosphere of the Delta State. 

This visit, he noted, served as an excellent opportunity to not only strengthen ties but also to appreciate the cultural diversity within Nigeria.

In response, the Olu of Warri congratulated the Emir on the impending honor bestowed upon him by the Western Delta University. 

He expressed his delight at the visit, emphasizing the significance of such interactions in fostering understanding among the diverse people of Nigeria.

“This type of visit is what helps us understand our varieties as a people in Nigeria, and to appreciate the varieties,” remarked the Olu of Warri. 

“Understanding ourselves this way will help the unity and love that exist among us. Thank you for this visit.”

Wishing the Emir a safe return to his state at the conclusion of his trip to Delta State, the Olu of Warri encapsulated the essence of the visit – a harmonious exchange promoting unity and appreciation for the rich cultural tapestry that defines Nigeria.

Meanwhile, shedding light on the illustrious background of the Emir, a profile revealed that Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, had ascended to the throne after achieving notable success as a lawyer, banker, and diplomat. As a former Nigerian Ambassador to Thailand with concurrent accreditation to Myanmar, he currently serves as the 19th Fulani Emir of Zazzau in the Zaria Emirate Council, Kaduna State.

His lineage carries historical significance, as he is the first Emir from the Mallawa ruling house to be enthroned in a century, following the dethronement of his grandfather, Emir Alu Dan Sidi, in 1920. 

A distinguished academic, the Emir holds a law degree (LLB) from Ahmadu Bello University (1989), a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from the same university (2002), and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (1998).

Continuing his quest for knowledge, the Emir attended a fellowship on Conflict Resolution at the University of York (2009) and completed a Diploma in Organizational Leadership at the University of Oxford (2015). 

Additionally, he successfully concluded the General Management Program (GMP) at Harvard Business School in 2011, showcasing his commitment to continuous learning and leadership development.
