Naija Update is committed to respecting the rights of copyright holders and responding to copyright infringement claims.

This page outlines the procedures for reporting copyright infringements and the steps we take to address such claims in compliance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Reporting Copyright Infringements:

If you are a copyright owner or an agent authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner and believe that your work has been used in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please provide our designated us with a written notification containing the following information:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple copyrighted works are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works.
  3. Identification of the infringing material and information reasonably sufficient to permit Naija Update to locate the material on our website.
  4. Your contact information, including your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notification is accurate, and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

Counter-Notification Process:

If you believe that your material was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may file a counter-notification. To be effective, the counter-notification must be a written communication provided to our DMCA Agent that includes substantially the following:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that has been removed or to which access has been disabled, and the location at which the material appeared before it was removed or access was disabled.
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located, or if your address is outside of the United States, for any judicial district in which Naija Update may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original infringement notification.

Please note that under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material or activity was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification may be subject to liability.

Repeat Infringers:

Naija Update respects the rights of copyright holders, and we will terminate the access of any user who repeatedly infringes copyright.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We take copyright infringement seriously and will respond to notices of alleged infringement that comply with the DMCA and other applicable laws.
