In a significant achievement, troops belonging to the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) have successfully rescued 31 kidnapped victims in Sokoto State.
Under the leadership of Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division Nigerian Army, Sokoto, the Northwest Operation intensified its efforts with a series of clearance operations targeting terrorists’ and bandits’ enclaves in the North-West region.
According to a statement by Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, the spokesperson for Operation Hadarin Daji, the recent clearance operation conducted in the Tangaza Local Government Area (LGA) of Sokoto State resulted in the liberation of Alya Fulani village and Buani Forest, where 30 kidnapped individuals were rescued.
The troops, displaying superior firepower, forced the terrorists and bandits to abandon their captives and flee their camps before the arrival of the proactive forces.
In a subsequent move to Goboro village, the troops successfully rescued another female kidnapping victim as the terrorists and bandits dispersed in disarray, unable to withstand the troops’ formidable response.
The commanding officer praised the gallantry of the troops and urged them to maintain their efforts, ensuring that terrorists and bandits are denied any freedom of action in the region.
