Debt Dispute: El-Rufai’s Son Criticizes Uba Sani, Alleging Incompetence

In a heated exchange of words, Bashir El-Rufai, the son of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has launched a scathing attack on Governor Uba Sani over claims that his father left Kaduna State mired in debt.

The confrontation erupted after Sani’s assertions that the previous administration burdened the state with a substantial debt of $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities.

Governor Sani’s remarks, made on Saturday, pointed to the dire financial situation inherited from the El-Rufai administration, citing difficulties in meeting salary obligations due to the overwhelming debt obligations.

Sani emphasized the necessity for fiscal prudence and strategic planning to navigate the challenges posed by the inherited debt burden.

“Despite the huge debt burden of $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities sadly inherited from the previous administration, we remain resolute in steering Kaduna State towards progress and sustainable development,” Governor Sani asserted, highlighting the administration’s commitment to addressing the financial challenges head-on without resorting to further borrowing.

However, Bashir El-Rufai swiftly rebuked the governor’s statements via his social media handle, denouncing them as a feeble attempt to deflect attention from the incumbent administration’s alleged incompetence.

“These guys have realized that they are wholly incompetent, and the only way to mask the nonsense is to deflect,” Bashir asserted, accusing the governor of seeking cheap excuses for his administration’s perceived failings.

In his online tirade, Bashir El-Rufai criticized Governor Sani’s leadership style, alleging a lack of effectiveness and pointing to what he described as the governor’s tendency to prioritize political interests over sound governance.

“From a Governor that is always sleeping in Abuja to a litany of incompetent aides that were only rewarded for foolish political reasons,” Bashir continued, launching a stinging critique of the current administration’s management practices.

He further questioned the efficacy of the administration’s financial management, sarcastically remarking on the administration’s supposed mismanagement of funds despite receiving substantial allocations from the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).

“One would think that from all the FAAC allocations these unserious clowns have changed to dollars, debt would be the least of their problems,” Bashir asserted, suggesting that misallocation rather than debt should be the focal point of concern for the state government.

The verbal clash between Bashir El-Rufai and Governor Uba Sani underscores the ongoing political tensions and divergent narratives surrounding the economic management of Kaduna State.

As accusations fly and tempers flare, the broader implications of these exchanges on governance and public perception remain a subject of intense scrutiny.
