Edo 2024: Female LP Gubernatorial Aspirant Declares – Advocates for Women’s Active Participation in Politics

In a bold declaration, Dr. Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor, a prominent female aspirant in the Edo 2024 governorship race, has set the stage for a transformative political narrative.

Seeking the Labour Party ticket to contest for the state’s highest office, Ogboro-Okor advocates for the active involvement of women in partisan politics, challenging the status quo where many Nigerian women find themselves relegated to the periphery during election seasons.

Expressing her concern for the underrepresentation of women in the political arena, Ogboro-Okor emphasized the need for women to assert their rightful place in politics.

This call for action came in the wake of her public declaration of intention to run for the Edo 2024 governorship election, a pivotal moment that took place at the Labour Party secretariat in Benin on Monday.

Addressing the gathering, Ogboro-Okor asserted, “A lot of women are always at the back door; it is time we took our place in the political space; we have to be at the table, so that we can shake it.”

Her words resonate with the broader sentiment that women’s active participation in politics is essential for a truly representative and inclusive democratic process.

The gubernatorial aspirant expressed gratitude to the supportive fathers who stand alongside women in their pursuit of political prominence. Recognizing the role of these male allies, Ogboro-Okor acknowledged their commitment to bringing positive change to the state.

Her acknowledgment underscores the importance of collaborative efforts across gender lines to create a more equitable and effective political landscape.

The call for women to take their place at the political table is not merely a symbolic gesture; it is a rallying cry for substantive change.

Ogboro-Okor’s declaration is poised to inspire women across Edo State to actively engage in politics, challenge stereotypes, and contribute to shaping the future of the region.

As the Edo 2024 governorship race unfolds, Ogboro-Okor’s candidacy signals a potential turning point for women in Nigerian politics.

The aspiration for increased female representation is not only about breaking barriers but also about leveraging diverse perspectives and experiences for the betterment of governance.

In advocating for women to “shake the table,” Ogboro-Okor challenges the established norms and invites a reevaluation of the political landscape.

Her candidacy represents a beacon of hope for those who believe in the power of diversity and inclusivity in steering the trajectory of a state towards progress and prosperity.

As Edo State prepares for the forthcoming elections, the resonance of Ogboro-Okor’s message extends beyond the confines of her campaign.

It echoes a broader call for systemic change, urging a reimagining of political dynamics where women are not just spectators but active contributors and leaders in shaping the destiny of their communities and the nation at large.
